ENDSHIP (from German Endspiel - “final game”) - the final part of a chess game, after which most of the pieces are exchanged. With a small number of pieces on the board in the endgame, the value of each of them increases.
The strategic goal of the endgame - the promotion of one of the pawns into a queen - determines the increasing role of the pawns.
